Lest we forget our deceased policemen:

Dear Editor:

“It has been some forty plus years since officer Frazier was killed in the line of duty in Port Lavaca at Bordosky’s Meat Market on Austin Street. He too was trying to stop a robbery in progress and was shot and killed. He too was a husband and father. All peace officers, policemen, deputy sheriffs, highway patrolman have families that are loved and appreciated by their children and wives and husbands.

My parent always taught me, my brother Alan, and sisters Sharon and Barbara to respect our policemen. They are there to protect you. Each day the officer puts on her or his uniform not knowing what the day may bring (some good, some not so good).

No one wants another tragedy. We appreciate what the officers do for us, regardless of race. Never take anything for granted because someday, protection could be limited for all Americans.
Please continue to pray for those deceased officers and their families. Pray for all peace officers and for our nation.

Thank You

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all the Christmas cards and gifts, and especially for your prayers. I love and miss you all.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Learning Something New

Have you ever wanted to learn something new the easiest way possible? Me too.

Being in this area for the first time as a Winter Texan and knowing very little about the eco-system of the Gulf, attending a program at the Port O’Connor Community Center seemed to be a great opportunity.
And it was.

Rhonda Cummins, Coastal and Marine Extension Agent, presented a video “The State of the Gulf: America’s Sea”. Wonderful photography accompanied the information given by people closely involved with the conservation of this area and it contained hundreds of interesting facts.

This entertaining video helped those of us attending understand how interwoven the weather, water, grasslands, wetlands, fish and wildlife of the gulf are; and, how this sparkling treasure is affected by just about every person east of the Rocky Mountains in one way or another.

If you want to see what you missed, the video is available on-line in 16 segments at https://tpwd.texas.gov .

So, my Thursday afternoons are planned for January and February, I’ll be at the lecture series! Oysters next, then watershed, then…
