This Sunday, April 24, is EASTER and the Annual Port O’Connor Easter Sunrise Service will be held at King Fisher Beach at 7:00 a.m. There will be singing of Easter songs by all in attendance, led by Raymond Grant. The First Baptist Church Choir will sing “The Easter Song”. Brother Erny McDonough, Pastor of Fisherman’s Chapel, will read the Bible Scripture and Brother Marcos Gohlke, Pastor of First Baptist Church, will give the Easter sermon. This inspirational service is usually attended by 300-plus people. Everyone is invited to attend and, if possible, you should bring a chair. You will be impressed and blessed by the service.
The annual Port O’Connor “Easter Egg Hunt” will be this Saturday, April 23, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Hundreds of eggs will be hidden for the children to hunt. There will be a few “special eggs” and prizes will be awarded to those children who find them. Special areas will be located for children of different ages. This will allow even the youngest of children to “find” eggs. Parents, grandparents and children will have refreshments after the Egg Hunt. Everyone is invited to participate and there is no charge.
Children’s Summer Camp is rapidly approaching. The camp is for children in grades three through six. The camp will be Monday through Thursday, June 20 through 23 at the Baptist Encampment in Palacios, Texas. If you have a child who wishes to attend, please contact the Church at 983-2727.
Vacation Bible School “Big Apple Adventure” will be June 13 through 16 this year from 9:00 a.m. to noon each day. This exciting four day adventure will take children on a Bible School trip to the Big Apple. There will be Bible classes, missionary adventures, music classes, craft making, snacks and recreation. Children from kindergarten through sixth grade are urged to attend. The church van will be operating daily to pick up the children and take them home.
