Port Lavaca – Delmer Scott, age 74, passed away January 31, 2017; after a 9 year fight with Mesothelioma. Delmer was born and raised in Port O’Connor, TX on November 13, 1942; he was the son of Alpha Lee Scott and Esther Thumann Scott.
After serving four years in the Coast Guard, stationed in Maine; he became a commercial fisherman. After retiring from Bobbies Bait in Port O’Connor he began his newest adventure as the owner of Powderhorn R.V. Park in Indianola, TX. Delmer is survived by his wife Bobbie Scott; sister’s Esther Lee Cauley of Jacksonville,TX and Linda (Leroy) Spencer of Sheridan, TX; three children, daughter Shelly Edeburn of Port O’Connor, Jimmy (Mary) Scott of Port O’Connor, David (Mandy) Scott of Shapleigh, ME. He is also survived by step daughter Terri (Terry) Maxwell of Burnet, TX and adopted son Mauricio (Veronica) Blanco of Port Lavaca, also a special granddaughter, Ginger Guptill of Indianola, which he raised like his own. Ten grandkids and four great grandkids, numerous nieces, nephews, and a slew of extended family and friends. Delmer was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bessie Gooden of Seadrift, TX; grandson Raymond Guptill, and step-son Rodney Loden.
A celebration of Delmer’s life was held on Saturday February 11, 2017 at the Powderhorn R.V. Park Rec-Hall at 601 Powderhorn Ln Indianola, TX. Memorial donations may be made to any cancer research of your choosing.
