A group of Senior Adults returned to Port O’Connor from this years Spring Senior Adult Retreat this past Thursday. I was one of the eight and it was simply a fantastic four days at Camp Zephyr.

The outstanding “Bible Teaching” was again taught by Dr. Jimmy Arnold. The Study was on “The Life Of Elijah” Dr. Arnold made the Scriptures come alive as he went through the exciting life of Elijah.

Bro. George Yarbrough was the leader in Devotions between the various Sessions and the Meals. The daily Preaching was expertly delivered by Bro. Sam Crosby, Pastor First Baptist Church in San Saba, Texas. What a powerful, loving, delivery Bro. Sam had!

Music was expertly delivered by Sue and Marcos Gohlke. We listened to solos, duets, quartets, and family hymns by everyone. Our Pastor, Bro. Donnie Martin, sang two solos that were well received, one was “We Are Standing On Holy Ground”. Sue and Marcus Gohlke were outstanding at the piano and their solos and duets. They led in good “Ole Fashioned Gospel Music” !

The three meals each day were fantastic: fried chicken, hamburgers, fish, mexican food, bar-b-q,and all kinds of salads. All kinds of desserts and drinks.

Seniors attending brought articles to auction off during the auction time to raise money for the camp. This was a real fun time. There was a lot of “Home Made” articles. I brought “Bags of my peanut Brittle” and the bags sold for $30 each! All the money went to the camp.

One evening we sat around the Camp Fire and made “Smores” and it was a lot of fun with all the Christian Seniors. The cost for all this Senior Fun was $100 per person, which included a Motel Room, all meals and refreshments.

The next Senior Retreat is September 25 – 28, 2017. If you would like to go, talk to Doyle Adams at 361-983-4866.

See you in church Sunday!
