The Port O’Connor Community Center Board of Directors held a quarterly meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Regular Board Members met and County Commissioner’s Office Manager April Townsend reported on the repairs and updates to our POC Community Center. New paint and stain, new vents and ducting, new signs and an updated thermostat are just some of the improvements made this quarter.
The roof edging will be repaired soon, and fresh ceiling tiles will be installed as well. The building or the pavilion is scheduled for use most weekends of the new year and there is lots going on at our Community Center.
We are working to secure repairs to the sign and to install new outdoor safety lighting after Hurricane Harvey did its best to damage both.
Senior Citizens, sportsman and fishermen, women’s groups, children and youth use the center regularly.
If you have need of renting the center, the County Commissioners Office oversees the scheduling of
rentals. The Board of Directors serves in an advisory and consultative capacity to maintain that committed hometown oversight of the facility. The center will continue to be available for community and rental use as needed.
The scheduled upgrades and repairs will continue into the spring when the center is most used. Watch the sign in front for information regarding center use.
