Join us as we go camping! It’s a great adventure as we go from packing your supplies and paddling down river, to building a campfire and tying the perfect knot. This exhibit is sure to please everyone interested in learning basic camping skills! Children will be immersed in a simulated outdoor experience that truly inspires. Fireflies? We got em’! Wildlife? Look behind you and you might just see their shadow! From making music around a campfire to exploring the night sky… Roughing It will help to instill a life-long love of camping in your child’s heart.
The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent is proud to invite families to our very first in-house traveling exhibit design! This exhibit explores the wonders of Texas camping and is open during regular museum hours through April 15. There is no additional fee to enjoy this great adventure, as the Roughing It exhibit is included in the regular entry fee of $7.50. Children’s Discovery Museum members and children 23 months and under are always free. CDM hours are Tue-Fri 10am-6pm, and Sat 10am-5pm. CDM is seasonally closed on both Sun & Mon.
Visitors of all ages are invited to come and learn about basic camping skills, wildlife facts, and even occasional informative visits with both Texas Parks and Wildlife’s “Texas Outdoor Family Program” representative park rangers, and Victoria’s own JROTC volunteers!
This exhibit is very special to us as we welcome you to enjoy our very first large scale original design.
