It is exciting to be a part of Port O’Connor and serve the Lord at the Chapel! We have had the opportunity of hosting several groups recently and have others scheduled to come and be a part of this community, even if just for a few days! They are eating in our restaurants, purchasing our gasoline, buying fishing supplies and bait locally, and using our utilities. They come to give, not just to take!

We were honored to host the Reverends Everett and Debbie from the Texas Panhandle and Pastors Baldo and Lulu and their family from Roma. What a special blessing they were! The Reverend Everett shared in the morning service on July 8th. Can you imagine what they had to say about our Fireworks here in POC! (Great job, Donnie and helpers!) We had almost twenty guys from Sam Houston University for a time of retreating and spiritual renewal – all of our college students are not part of the “crazies”! It was great to have them in our morning services and have one of their leaders, Reverend Jason, share the Word with us.
As I write this, we are gearing up for the mission’s project we have been involved in for 23 years – Poco Bueno. We are expecting to glean about 10,000 meals from the Poco Bueno, Lone Star Shoot-out, and Shark Tooth tournaments this year!

We had a special baptismal service at the front beach, where we baptized those who have made a profession of their faith in Jesus Christ. On August 5, we will be having a Baby Dedication for those who wish to dedicate themselves to raise their children in the Lord. It is a very special service and all are invited to participate or just come and witness this memorable event.
All ladies are invited to be a part of a Ladies Retreat here on July 27 & 28. The Friday activities will start about 5:00 p.m. and Saturday will begin with morning coffee and breakfast, with festivities ending about noon. This will be a great time of fellowship and spiritual renewal.

On August 12, in the morning service, we will be greeting the ladies from the Rehabilitation Center, Saving Grace. They will be here to share their testimonies of how the Lord is helping to salvage their lives from the grip of addictions. It will be a special time and all are welcomed.

Get reading for the Captain’s School coming back to Port O’Connor. Captain Robert will again teach the Sea Academy classes here at the Chapel beginning on August 17. All interested persons should contact the School at 361/758/6184 as soon as possible to have a place ready for them. We have been honored to host these classes since 2000 and have had many Captains complete these classes a provide a service to the people of this area. You are welcome!

Fisherman’s Chapel is an interdenominational congregation that strives to provide services to this community that will assist all of us in getting ready to truly live life and be prepared to face God. You will always find a warm welcome here and are urged to, “Come, grow with us!”
