Summer is flying by and if you don’t stay tuned you’ll miss the fun in POC. Fireworks and beach time, fishing and family time, good food, great friends, fishing tournaments big and small… our little community has a lot to offer. The Service Club ladies are busy just like the rest of us, but they are still finding time to sort and organize the donations at the County barn in preparation for our October Garage Sale and to serve whenever asked here in our community. The Fall Garage Sale is key in our funding of local scholarships. Make plans to be at the pavilion early that first Saturday in October so you can find some hidden treasures too. If you have items to donate, we can use clothing, household goods and décor in good condition. If you need information on making donations, please call Donna Vuichard at 361-237-0476. As always, we are grateful for your support of our fund raising efforts.
The previously weather-interrupted All American Family Fun Day has been rescheduled for September 15th from 10-2 at Kingfisher Beach and pavilion. This special ‘bring your own lunch’ day will have games and fun, prizes and ice cream provided by the ladies of the Service Club. It’s a whole family affair with something for every age, so make plans to join us for this fun event.
We are still meeting on our Summer schedule of only one meeting the first Thursday of the month. Come visit in August before school begins and your schedule gets crowded. We would love to meet you and share with you some of the plans for the coming year. Service Club loves new members and welcomes women of all ages to be a part. $5 annual dues and an interest in joining is all it takes to make you official and we promise you will have fun.
So, until next time, be safe, live simply, love openly, forgive generously and remember this quote from successful attorney and revolutionary community volunteer in southern Mississippi Mr. Collier Graham who said, “the influence of a beautiful, helpful character is contagious and may revolutionize a whole town.” Come meet the beautiful characters of the POC Service Club and help them with their hometown revolution.
