On June 18th Port O’Connor First Baptist Church held their annual Vacation Bible School, hosting not only local kids, but those from out of town too. For a whole week, an average of 40 children and 23 workers learned about Jesus through Bible stories, missions, crafts, music, recreation and even in snacks
.
These kids came in bright and eager each morning and studied hard and played harder. And though it did rain most of the week, we didn’t let it get in the way of the all the fun.
I would personally like to thank all who helped make this year such a success and the parents who allowed their children to come each day and raid their change bowls each night. The children brought change daily for missions and collected at total of $ 412.16, which they presented to Reed Hewitt, Director of Communications of the South Texas Children’s Home on July 8.
This year’s VBS was a wonderful event, with only one thing missing: our worship rally leader Doyle Adams! Mr. Adams has recently moved to Good Samaritan Society, Lake Forest Village in Denton, TX. He has been a staple part of the First Baptist Church in Port O’Connor for many years and he was greatly missed at VBS this year. Thank you all who attended Vacation Bible School, I look forward to next year!
