No one can accurately say that the Chapel is made up of lazy people! We have just been honored and entrusted with the catches from three fishing tournaments: Poco Bueno, Lone Star Shoot Out, and Sharp Tooth. We have bagged and frozen about 5,000 meals that we will be sharing with folks that are in NEED!  Everyone would like a free bag of fish, especially that has already been filleted, but we will be trying to give away as Christ would – we are attempting to be His hands and feet! We can not say enough about the great team we had this year at the weigh-in stations, at the kitchen stove, at the cleaning tables, at the bagging area, and especially those who made sure it was all cleaned up and put away for next year! I will not attempt to name the workers, because I know I would miss many – so SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!

Add to this work a great Ladies Retreat which saw over 70 women on Friday evening and about 50 for Saturday morning being loved on and ministered to. Pastor Joane ministered on Saturday morning and her team did an awesome job of decorating and directing this great conference which has seemed to turning into an annual event.

On the last Sunday morning of July, our children under the direction of Sister Angie, presented a skit about the “Whole Armor of God”. What a delight and it was followed up with Pastor Jesse sharing the importance of armor for the combats we face daily. It was an exciting and excellent morning.

On August 5, we were honored to have a Baby Dedication for little JoJo Ebner from San Antonio. It was one of the sweetest services we have! That evening, we hosted the ministry of Pastor Robert Hogan from Spring First. It was followed by a great Fellowship Meeting at the Chapel on Monday morning for the area churches. Special thanks to David and Evelyn who helped us host this special event.

This past Sunday, we had the ladies from Saving Grace in Southeastern Houston here in the morning service. They had great testimonies of the grace of our Lord that is helping them kick addictions out of their lives. It was a very special time and we look forward to their return.

We have recently hosted groups from San Marcus, Bastrop. Gonzales, LaVernia and Houston, and are looking forward to several other groups coming to Port O’Connor to Retreat. We are looking forward to one of our granddaughters from Pennsylvania coming for a visit and to Captain Robert bringing another Captain’s Class to the Chapel (Aug. 17 thru 24).

Pastor Joane is gearing up for a trip to Mexico at the end of the month. She and several of our ladies will be going to a church just over the border from Roma to do kids and ladies ministry. We are praying that the Lord will provide safety and His fresh anointing as they do His work!

We are praying for our school system. School started August 15, and we all need to bombard Heaven with our prayers for their safety and ability to learn. We are still praying for the Bible to be returned to our classrooms and for prayer to be reinstated at our Calhoun County Independent School District. With the Lord’s blessings, much more will be accomplished and our children will be greatly blessed with educational excellence.

Fisherman’s Chapel is an active, vibrant group of folks who are headed heavenward and would like for YOU to come along with us on our journey! We are an interdenominational congregation and urge all to, “Come, grow with us”!
