Summer is an exciting time of the year! There seems to be more outdoor activities and more family activities – at least that is what I see here in Port O’Connor. Weren’t the fireworks the best ever? We had 37 join us for our annual Parsonage Porch Party and watched all the “bombs bursting in air…” it again made me want to sing “God Bless America”!

Our men traveled to Edna and enjoyed breakfast with men from about 12 other churches. It was an enjoyable and inspirational morning. Our ladies are planning their Ladies Retreat here at the Chapel on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27. The theme of the meeting is “The Bride of Christ”. All ladies are welcomed to attend, but should contact Pastor Joane (361/648-4622) as soon as possible. Guys, we are planning our Men’s Retreat for September 13 and 14 – be looking for further information.

We appreciated the opportunity to glean fish from the Mullet Tournament and are looking forward to the Lone Star Shoot Out and other tournaments to help us restock our freezers. We glean these fish in order to have meat to give those needy families in our area who come for assistance. It is a great way for us to give more than we possibly could without the fishermen’s help. Thanks for helping us!

We are looking forward to the ministry of Pastor Don Nordin from CT church in Houston. He will be preaching in the 6:00 p.m. service on August 4 and again in the morning (10:00 a.m.) fellowship service on Monday, August 5. Pastor Nordin has been a very special friend for many years and will truly be a great blessing to all who hear him.

We are gearing up for a huge 50th Wedding Celebration for David and Evelyn Williams. It will be on Saturday, August 17. We wish the couple all of the best of God’s blessings for their next 50 years together!

Again we will be hosting the Chi Alpha leadership team for a Retreat August 17 thru August 19. These students from Texas A&M Corpus will be working together to build a team that will reach their campus for Christ. It will be a wonderful weekend and we get to share it with them. Be sure to be here and encourage these student leaders as they dedicate their lives to the Lord!

Captain Robert has just announced a fall Sea Academy Class here in Port O’Connor on September 27 thru October 4. It will be another great class and those interested should contact Capt. Robert at 361/785-6184 as soon as possible to make reservations.

Fisherman’s Chapel is an interdenominational congregation that seeks to help bring encouragement, education, and inspiration to those seeking to find a relationship with Christ or wanting to build their faith. We meet on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. for Bible Study, lead by Pastor Joane; Morning Service at 11:00 a.m. and a 6:00 p.m. Service each Sunday. We gather at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday for a time of midweek refreshments! One will always find a warm welcome at the Chapel and Chapel and ar urged to, “Come, grow with us!”
