Turn the TV Off! Get in your Truck or SUV and come on down. Port Lavaca, Port O Connor, Seadrift are hot spots for getting out of the jammed up Big City Traffic. We have fresh Air and the fishing is on Fire! The only thing on fire down here are BBQ pits with Redfish on the Half Shell, Grilled Steaks and Ribs. It’s not even July 4th weekend yet and the party has already started. You’re going to have to be patient because the word is out. Even if it’s a Last Minute Trip call the Citys Chamber of Commerce to assist you in finding the hidden gems of the Texas Middle Coast.

The Dog Days of Summer are in full swing. June 12th we woke up to a cool North wind. Summer north winds are chill the air and knock the mosquitoes down a bit welcome change this time of year. Which reminds me. Here is a tidbit of secret fishing knowledge. If the mosquitoes are biting so are the fish. So, now you know.

The wade Fishermen are doing the best it seems with the Jetty Jerkers coming in a close 2nd. The Bays are plum full of Reds, Trout and Flounder. Black Drum are schooling around reefs and Back Bays. Sheepshead which is a Fall Target species are still around but in short supply.

I’m out on a Spot and Stalk Fly Fishing Trip out of the Airboat today. It was nice when the north wind was barely blowing. You could see their tails up along the bank as they swam through the grass looking for crabs and shrimp. I cleaned one the other day and I saw what they had in their stomach. That’s how I know which flys to tell my Fishermen what to tie on for the best shot. Fly Fishing is an art for sure and I’m the kid that never could color inside the lines. And I’m clumsy added to being out of shape I just realize being as Fly Guide is not in my cards. Now I do know where the Reds and Drum cohabitate on hard pack sand and I can get you to those remote locations via American Air Ranger. If that’s something you are interested. A group of Fly Guys is a easy group and I can take up to 4. But if you are wanting a poling skiff Tom Horby and Jack Campbell are the best in the business.

This weekend looks to be a mad house with July 4th fast approaching. Please be patient on and off the water. Also prepare that your secret spot that no one knows about will have been fished out by the time you arrive, so don’t freak out.
