Recently, the Port O’Connor Community Service Club donated two new microwaves to the center. After 20 years of use, they were needed.(See photo) Thank you to all the club members who have always been big supporters of the center. Twenty years ago when the fundraising began for this center and pavilion, the club was right there to begin the process of fundraising.

The process will begin again soon to raise money to add restrooms to the pavilion and make some needed improvements as well. The revenue that the facility brings into our town extends far beyond the rental fees. Many fishing tournaments, weddings, fund raising events and other functions bring thousands of people and dollars to Port O’Connor every year. These planned improvements will make time spent here much more enjoyable.

To make inquiries about renting the center, please call April May at County Commissioner Gary Reece’s office, (361)785-3141.
