“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…” Pastor Joane has led par of our Chapel family in decorating the church and it looks beautiful! We had our guest musician, Reverend Ric Gorden come and sing his way into our hearts again! What a gifted voice and anointed message that he shared with us! We wish he did not live in Guthrie, Oklahoma, or at least his home was closer to ours. He not only was a great blessing to us, but he also sang at our Sectional Christmas Party at Port Lavaca. It was a special occasion we will not soon forget.
The Christmas spirit truly began with our Community Thanksgiving Service at St. Joseph Church. Everyone was in a festive mood and the singing and fellowship was wonderful. Our offering for the evening was $1,265.76, which was way down from previous years, but we have a lot of friends in this community that have given generously to take care of the need. We had enough funds to finish the items needed for the Christmas Baskets, which were distributed on December 14. It feels so good to help the truly needy. Okay, just one story! I took a box to a family and shortly after I arrived, their youngest (3 years old) came through the door with her sippy cup in hand. “Mommy, I know we don’t have any milk, but I sure want some!” The reply was, “Our community has just delivered two gallons of milk; you can have all you want!” Yes, it brought a tear to my eye and a determination in my heart to continue doing all I can to see us together get food to needy families! Thank you for making it possible! Not only do individuals help with extra offerings, but the Ladies Service Club comes forward with a $500.00 check after each garage sale they have! So our churches, the Service Club, and individuals make it happen for the people in our community that need our assistance. Thanks!
Christmas is very busy at the Chapel. Instead of having caroling we opted for a Christmas Social, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and singing carols around the outdoor fire. On Sunday, December 19 at 6:00 p.m., we will meet for our annual Christmas Party, which always includes food, fellowship, and “white elephants”! We only allow those to come who believe Christmas should be a happy gathering – all others are requested to stay home or go to another party!
Fisherman’s Chapel is an interdenominational congregation whose goal is to help every pilgrim on their journey from here to Heaven successfully! We meet each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for Bible Study; 11:00 a.m. for Morning Service; and 6:00 p.m. for Evening Service. We also gather at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday for a midweek time of fellowship and the Word! Pastor Joane is an awesome and inspirational teacher and preacher, whom you will enjoy hearing. Everyone is invited to attend any and all our our services and a warm welcome awaits each! You are encouraged to, “Come, grow with us”!
