“Beacon of Light…Anchor of the Community”
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” all around POC, with all the colorful lights and decorations, and our beautiful POC Library is equally as festive!! Our Librarian, Michelle Marlin, and the Friends of the POC Library, have turned our Library into a “Christmas Wonderland” for Patrons and visitors to enjoy!! We welcome everyone to drop by for a visit, and to check out a book or two!! We have many programs, presentations, and activities going on in December, and the upcoming New Year, so please mark your calendars for the following events!! Our programs are free, and open to the public!!! All are welcome!!

“Giving Tuesday”, which is November 30, 2021-December 31, 2021, is a time when the Community is asked to donate to the “Friends of the POC Library”, and, in turn, all donations received go directly back to support the POC Library in whatever way is needed!! The Organization, “The Friends of the POC Library”, was established many years ago by those wonderful people who worked continuously and tirelessly for years to raise the funds to build and furnish what is now the beautiful Library that the POC Community is blessed to be able to use and enjoy!! The Friends were vital then in building the Library, and they are vital now as they continue to directly impact the POC Library by providing funding for anything the Library needs that is not funded by the Calhoun County Library System. Among the many ways that the Friends continue to support the POC Library are: purchase of a state of the art audiovisual system and big screen television for the Library’s Multipurpose Room; pay for the Library’s pest control services; volunteer for, and provide funding and refreshments for, the Library’s Children and Adult Programs on an ongoing basis (including the highly successful weekly Coffee and Conversation” sessions); purchase additional books, furniture, decor, and supplies for the POC Library whenever needed; provide funding for the building and maintenance of the Library’s outdoor butterfly garden and seating area; support our wonderful Librarian, Michelle Marlin; and everything else that it takes to enhance, improve, maintain, publicize, and promote anything and everything that has to do with our beautiful POC Library!! The Friends’ Members even spent “Giving Tuesday” completely and thoroughly cleaning the Library before they decorated it for Christmas!! Now that’s dedication!! If you are interested in joining “Friends of the POC Library”, we would love to have you. If you would like to donate, we would greatly appreciate it!! You can donate online at www.friendsofthepoclibrary.org; write a check and mail it to: Friends of the POC Library, PO Box 497, POC, TX 77982; or slide a check into the lockbox at the POC Library. Your support will be greatly appreciated!!!
