Beacon of Light…Anchor of the Community”

The Port O’ Connor Library continues to be a bustling place, with the constant flow of people using the Library’s many free services (including internet), returning and checking out books; working on its computers, attending programs and meetings, and seeking the kind and expert assistance of our Librarian, Michelle Marlin. Mrs. Marlin is currently asking for all POC residents and visitors to come to the Library to complete a short, anonymous survey that the Calhoun County Library System is conducting to find out how they can improve Library Services. They are seeking everyone’s input, whether you are a regular Library user or not, and are asking everyone to please stop by and fill one out!! Mrs. Marlin also wants to inform everyone that there is currently an interest in starting a “Bridge Group” in POC, and they are seeking others who might want to join them. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Marlin at 361-983-4365. Our continued thanks and appreciation go out to Mrs. Marlin for all that she does for the POC Library and its many patrons!!!

The Library’s support group, the Friends of the POC Library, is also staying busy, and recently completed two spectacular adult programs and book signings by renowned authors, Curt Locklear and Bill Innocenti. Both programs were well attended, and received rave reviews; and the Friends’ Children’s Programs are also well attended and much enjoyed by the Library’s younger audiences!! Please mark your calendars for the Friends’ upcoming Adult Programs in April and May, and their Children’s Programs in March, April, and May, all listed and detailed below. The Friends appreciate the continued support of the POC Community, and continue to work hard doing wonderful things for our beautiful POC Library and its constituents!!
