Tuesday night, November 2, was a night for the Seadrift Police Department to shine! Of course, they shine whenever and wherever they go as officers!
Police Chief Leonard Bermea was honored to receive the Life-saving Award. Seadrift’s Police Commissioner Ranier Brigham presented Leonard with the award. Chief Bermea saved the lives of two individuals who almost died using the lifesaving Narcan. Narcan is a medication that can revive someone who has overdosed on opioids. Leonard had this to say about receiving the Lifesaving Award, “It’s one of those awards that you strive to attain during your career.”
In February 2023 the police chief will have been with the Seadrift Police Department for fourteen years! Leonard has been Seadrift’s Police Chief for ten years.
Also, receiving recognition was Sergeant Mike Henry. Police Commissioner Ranier Brigham presented him with an Officer of the Year Award for his outstanding service as a police officer.
Sergeant Mike Henry has been with the Seadrift Police Department since 2015.
