Korben Dee Rasmussen
Lover of History
Korben informed me that in 1845 Seadrift was founded by German settlers and that in 1865 the Rasmussen family emigrated to Seadrift. I was impressed with what he had to say about Seadrift’ history.
Korben and his love for history was quite evident when Mayor Elmer DeForest came to the Seadrift Baptist Church during its Wednesday night youth program to speak to the kids about Seadrift and its city government. After it was finished Korben enjoyed visiting with the mayor about Seadrift and its history. It was evident that both the mayor and Korben had a love for Seadrift and its history!
Korben is nine years old and attends fourth grade at the Seadrift School. His mom is Misty and his dad is Ryan. Korben wanted me to mention his aunt Tiffany because “she has been there for me.”
Korben’s pets are: Freya and Roxi (his dogs) and Rolo, Bear, and Smokey (his cats). His hobbies are walking around, going on trips, playing games, and hanging out with friends.
Korben attends the Seadrift Baptist Church. Commenting about the church Korben said, “I like how they run the place.” His favorite Bible passage is John 3:16 which reads: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”
In conclusion Korben had this to say about history and his teachers, “I like history because it interests me and I want to thank both of my teachers, Patrick Chrisco and Cathy Chatham, for teaching me all I know.” -Tanya DeForest
