German artist and Artboat owner Dieter Erhard from Seadrift recently created a huge stainless steel stork. It is about 15 feet high and weighs 1,300 pounds, sitting on a 2.2 tons concrete base.
He got the idea for this piece while visiting the town of Herzogenaurach, Germany (where the famous Adidas and Puma companies’ headquarters are located).

Dieter saw about 30 storks sitting on the Medeval old town’s roofs. He decided to build one big stork of stainless steel, one of his favorite material to work with. Two months later the gigantic stork was finished. It even has a pulely that makes the stork’s beak rattle, just like real storks do.

The whole area of Bavarian Frankonia has an highly increasing number of nesting storks, so Erhard named him Frankonian Stork … Fränkischer Storch (German) … Frankonia Circonia (Latin).
