Special congratulations to Justin and Jessica Locklear, who were recently married in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Several years ago, Pastor Joane met Jessica at the Chapel. She was in need of some guidance, so after months of counseling, Jessica left Port O’Connor to attend a rehabilitation center in Houston. Today, she is the director of a similar home in Florida – great testimony of the grace of God and a tribute to her hard work.
We have been hosting several retreats recently. We had a group called “Coastal Camp Ministry Men’s Retreat” in late September; have had several family groups coming to recoup, and are in the planning stages of a group of men from Calvary Temple in San Antonio coming this month. With the excellent “catching waters” of this area, groups are coming to fill their boats and enjoy a time away from their busy lives.
Pastor Joane has been very busy with ministry outside the Chapel. She will be going to Victoria soon to preach at Friendship Bible. We will be attending a leadership conference in the near future hosted by New Beginnings, with Pastor Steve Martin. The speaker for that conference is the Reverend Don Nordin, a great leader who is beginning churches all around America.
We are gearing up for the Community Thanksgiving Service on November 12 at 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist. It will be a great time of praise and the Word, which will be delivered by the Pastor of Saint Joseph’s. A time of fellowship will follow which is provided by the ladies of First Baptist – so the food will be exceptional! There will be a special offering received at that service to help us buy all the foods for the Holiday Feed Baskets for needy Port O’Connor folks. The sign-up deadline for the Thanksgiving Basket will be on November 5, with November 14 being distribution day. Those needing or those who know a family in need, please call Pastor Joane at 361-648-4622.
Fisherman’s Chapel is an interdenominational congregation which was founded in 1995. Its goal remains the assisting of people in this area to find a relationship with Christ or strengthen their relationship. We do that through many outreach opportunities each week. We gather at the Chapel on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. for Bible Study; 11:00 a.m. for Morning Service; and 6:00 p.m. for Evening Service. Knowing how long it can seem to be between weekends, we have a special activity scheduled each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. We gather for a fellowship meal and then are challenged with a message from God’s Word. One will always find a warm welcome at the Chapel, and all are urged to, “Come, grow with us!”
