Condolences – Ilbert D Brayshaw

Lt. Col. Ilbert DeLacy Brayshaw of Magnolia Beach, Texas died on Aug. 29, 20011. He was 92.

Brayshaw matriculated from Smithfield, Va. and held a Bachelor of Science degree from VMI.

A veteran of World War II and Korea, he served in the USAF from 1940-1946 as a B-17 & B-29 navigator and instructor and from 1951 -1953 as an engineering officer. He retired after 28 years from the Air Force Reserve as a Lt. Col.

In the military and civilian life he worked on many engineering projects, such as construction of Chaumont Air Base, Chaumont, France; the Belle Chase Tunnel, New Orleans; the Reynolds Metals General Office Bldg., Richmond, Va.; Incirlik Air Base, Adana, Turkey; bridges at Montego Bay, Jamaica; and military air bases in Taiwan, Thailand, and the Phillipines during the Vietnam war.

His wife, Mary, pre-deceased him on June 8, 2010. He is survived by two sons; William D Brayshaw and his wife, Karla; John E. Brayshaw and his wife, Jeanne, and their two sons, Robert, and his wife Stephanie; Michael and his wife Tiffany; and 3 great-grandchildren.
