We had a very exciting time living in Port O’Connor when I was a litter girl. The Coast Guard Station was new and we had never see such a cool building. We have very fond memories of visiting my Dad at the Station, going to watch Movies for 10 cents and playing shuffle board at The Hurrican Junction, and running from hurricanes with my Mom and Brother Randy, eating the BEST SHRIMP in the world, seeing wild boars in our back yard, and snake too yikes. My Parents danced, laughed and loved their life in Port O’Connor and it is one of the fondest memories of my youth. I am looking forward to visiting my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Harvey with my 19 year old daughter Jennifer, who cannot wait to see where we grew up.
Thank you,
Dawn Parker

I am Dave’s “baby sister”, as he always called me. Even though he was 10 years older than me I remember how much he was my protector from our younger bother, Woody, who was 18 months older than me. I also remember when he went in the Navy when he was 17 and how very sad I was for him to go. But how wonderful it was when he would surprise us usually in the middle of the night) by hick hiking home from Caif. to Texas. I guess that was all meant to be because if he had not joined the Navy, then the Coast Guard, I would never have met my husband, John. It was Dave and Joy that introduced us in New Orleans in 1966. Dave must have thought John would now be my protector, and in hind sight, as any of you that know him, he sure has been. Of course Joy thought he was great because he is California born like her. So I will always be grateful to them both for that. Bubby I’ll miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave and I met Dave, Joy and their family many years ago at Rita and John’s. You could tell Dave and Ree were siblings and he was such a happy and friendly guy. It was fun to hear about some of his business ventures. Like Jammie said, (Hi Jammie!)…he was the party. I’m sure you miss that man in your life Joy. Warm thoughts, nina

Hi Barbara Ann here; Well I am the oldest of the bunch. 18 MO. OLDER. So much could be said about my brother who was a twin we lost his bud Donnie many years ago. We could have said he served 4 years in the NAVYDURING THE kOREAN WAR and was on a LSD they took the troops in by boat. A very dangerious job usually one way trip but he survives. You could also say when he was stationed in port oconnor they lived in a rent house that was on the right coming into POC. It has since been moved to the back of Tigrett Realistate. Still standing. I could say a lot and yes he was always happy go lucky guy. I did forgive him for hanging my prise doll in a tree and her head hit the ground. Love you Bro Your big sister. Barbara Ann
