As most of you know, Jerry Wayne Nutt passed away on Sunday, January 15th, 2012 at the age of sixty two. A benefit on behalf of his widow, Janice Nutt, to help defray final expenses will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Port O’Connor Community Center in Port O’Connor. This is a community-wide sponsored event by the citizens as a way to say “thank you” for all Jerry and Jan have done. And now, Jan needs your help.

Don Haynes, Chairman for this event, and his crew – The Smokin’ Nuts will be busy preparing the delicious barbecue. The dinner will consist of barbecue brisket with onions & pickles, potato salad, Spanish rice, and beans with tea or water. The cost of the plates will be by donation.

A Bake Sale for donations will be held during the day along with a Silent Auction and also a Live Auction with some exceptional items. The Bake Sale will be held until items are sold out, so make plans to purchase your baked items early as they usually sell out fast. The Silent Auction will conclude at 3:00 p.m. The scheduled time of the live auction is 2:00 p.m. Don’t miss out on all the wonderful live auction items.

So Mark Your Calendar – Saturday, March 3rd, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and come on out to the POC Community Center. Please note the original advertised date of Saturday, February 25th was changed due to another scheduled event that day with the fishing tournament benefiting the POC Fire Department.

If you can volunteer some time to work during the benefit or anyone having items to donate for the Silent or Live Auction, we do need your help! For those of you who have not already signed up, we need all of POC to come together and do what you can to support this benefit as you have generously done in the past for others.
