The community is invited to attend the next meeting of the Port O’Connor Lions Club on Wednesday, August 8th to hear Meteorologist Bill Alexander of Television Station KAVU speak on Hurricane Preparedness. He has graciously accepted our invitation and is scheduled to come to Port O’Connor and speak on this very important subject. Since we are located on the coast, we all need to be prepared in the event of hurricanes.
Thankfully, we have not had another threat since our evacuations due to Hurricanes Claudette and Ike but most of us know the destruction that can happen. By being vigilant and prepared, our losses possibly may be reduced in the event of a hurricane – not to mention the accompanying forces of tornadoes which are unpredictable.

Don’t forget the Port O’Connor Lions Club Ice Cream Social and bingo fundraiser planned for Friday, August 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the Port O’Connor Elementary School. Jim (Fundraiser Chairman) and Linda Butler always organize a fun evening, so come on out.
