What a great Vacation Bible School (VBS) we had July 30 through August 5. Devon was the director and worked closely with Pastor Joane to put together the best VBS in recent history! Kids had a lot of fun, learned a lot about the Lord, and were fed some of the best food around. They picked up trash on the Front Beach, enjoyed a “sleep over” and memorized a new Bible verse each evening. Each child was touched by the story of God’s great love for us and each one asked Jesus to become their Lord during this week! The highlight was the Sunday morning Commencement Service where the kids sang for their parents and grandparents and helped pray for them. Several of the parents also made commitments to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. All I can say about this VBS is that we were awed by the workers who gave of themselves, the kids who came, and the blessings of the Lord that we all experienced. We are looking forward to next year’s!

Our next special event is with Missionary Keith Boudrux, who works with international students on the Houston college and university campuses. The Reverend Boudrux has ministered at the Chapel before and has published a book concerning “the seven deadly sins”. He is a gifted speaker and is accomplishing a lot for the Lord with these students from around the world. The Reverend Boudrux will only be in the morning service with us, so please make plans to attend – Sunday, August 19, at 10:00 a.m.

Kids, remember that Friday Night Youth will be the place to be each Friday from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. We know that school will be resuming in a few days, but come on, bring your new friends and introduce them to all of us!

I am traveling out of state for a few days to be with Dad. Many of you have been praying for us and we feel that support and sincerely appreciate it. In our absence, Pastor Joane will be filling the pulpit. (Please don’t tell her I said it, but she is a much better preacher than I!) and you will not want to miss any of the services. Again, thank you for remembering us as we walk this different pathway – different only because we have never walked it before!

The Chapel is an interdenominational congregation whose goal is to make everyone’s pathway to Glory as smooth as possible! God has been blessing our efforts with several new families, so come and see what is going on. We know you will always find a warm welcome at the Chapel, and we urge you to, “Come, grow with us!”
