On Wednesday, September 12th, the Port O’Connor Lions Club and guests from the community along with our guests from the Seadrift Lions Club (Lynn Reeves, President and Peggy Gaines, Secretary/Treasurer) met with Jane Lane, Attorney At Law, as Guest Speaker on the subject of Wills and Probate. Ms. Lane was very informative and gave us a lot of useful information regarding the need for wills, types of wills, information on the probate process, and information on what to expect. We are grateful to have had her impart some of her vast knowledge with us and she graciously answered our questions. Thanks to all of you who attended.
In my opinion, if you need any help with securing a will or having one amended, I believe that Jane Lane can help with that. Don’t put it off and let the State of Texas make your decisions for you as to the disbursement of your real and personal property after you are gone. It should be your decision. It is so important and yet many of us put that task off until later when it may be too late.
On behalf of the Club, Joyce Jordan, President, along with Leah Griffin, Secretary, awarded Jane Lane with a Lions Certificate of Appreciation as Guest Speaker.
Jim Butler was awarded a Lions Certificate of Appreciation for Service as Fundraising Chairman from inception of the Club to May 31st, 2012 on behalf of the Club by Joyce Jordan. Thanks to Jim for all his hard work – plus he has accepted the position for another year. We really do appreciate you, Jim!
The next fundraiser will be a CHILI and BINGO SOCIAL to be held Friday, September 28th at Port O’Connor Elementary School Cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. The chili is $3.00 per bowl and the bingo cards are $1.50 per card. Please MARK YOUR CALENDAR and join us for an enjoyable evening with friends, family, and neighbors. Even the children have fun with bingo. The last Ice Cream Social and Bingo was lots of fun and this will be also – SO COME ON OUT!
