Seadrift: Donald Harned passed away on October 5, 2012. He was born on April 6, 1929 in Llano, TX to C.A. and Jessie Harned. He was married in the love of his life, Evelyn Harned, on Sept. 11, 1949.
Don retired from Union Carbide after 20 years as a pipefitter. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was also a Master Mason.
Don grew up hunting and fishing in the Texas Hill Country with his dad and cousins and brought that love for the outdoors with him to the coast. He passed that love on to his children and grandchildren. The only thing he enjoyed more was spending time with and taking care of his family and friends.
Don is survived by his daughter, Donna (Jim) Cobble; son, Darrell (Ginny) Harned; son, Stephen Harned; grandchildren, Jeremy (Allison) Harned, Kassie Harned, James (Katie) Cobble; and great grandson, Todd Harned. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, a large number of nieces and nephews and many cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Harned; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Harned.
A memorial service was held on October 8, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Seadrift.
