It’s All About The New Library!

Lilly Sudderth, Emery Kane, Weston Kane and Joseph Sudderth sold cookies and lemonade to raise funds to help build a new library for Port O’Connor.

The excitement of waiting for the POC fireworks display on the 4th of July was matched by the excitement of four enthusiastic youngsters who want Port O’Connor to have a new library.  These out-of-towners are frequent visitors to the library when they are here visiting their grandparents.

They made lemonade and cookies and paraded up and down front beach waving posters and shouting about the exciting possibility of an up to date, futuristic library that the Friends of the POC Library want to make a reality.

Children like Emery and Weston Kane of Austin and Lilly and Joseph Sudderth of Marfa believe it can happen and were willing to work towards the goal.  They donated their proceeds of $146 to the Friends of the Port O’Connor Library, Inc.

If you haven’t considered what you can do to help, please do.  For more information, contact Vera Wiatt, vwiatt@gmail.com

Read And Release: Find A Good Home For Your Used Books

Friends will accept private donations of books, audio books, CDs, and DVDs that are in good condition. A good rule of thumb is to consider whether you would give or loan the item to a friend of yours. If so, we could probably sell it. If not, please recycle at home. Please box them up and drop them off at the library, 101 6th Street next to the Fire Station.

Friends cannot accept moldy, mildewed, smoky, stained, water-damaged books or books with broken bindings/spines, torn covers, missing pages, highlighted or excessive hand-written notes in them. We do not accept textbooks, computer manuals or encyclopedias more than five years old.
