POC School students extend their thanks to Nathan O’Neill and his crew for all their hard (and hot) work to beautify the school campus. Nathan and his staff, with the help of 4th and 5th grade students, planted over 30 trees and installed a watering system around the playground. Thank you, Mr. O’Neill!

Students listen intently while Dr. Karen explains about the horse’s head.

Actually, Dr. Karen and Dr. Jeff Musser, Veterinarians at Texas A&M University, brought Africa to POC! Dr. Karen and Dr. Jeff returned to Port O’Connor School again this year to show the students what they had learned during their recent trip to the country of Sudan, Africa. While in Africa they worked with a tribe and their 4,000 head of cattle! The kids loved learning about the African tribe and all of the animals they encountered on their trip.

The doctors also brought along some bones, lungs, a cow stomach, heart and other animal anatomy for the kids to interact with. The kids were invited to visit the Veterinary School at Texas A&M and made sure to let Dr. Jeff and Dr Karen know that they can’t wait for them to come back and visit Port O’Connor Elementary!
