Blood Drive May 17

On Thursday, May 17 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Seadrift Lions will host a blood drive at Dick’s Food Store in Seadrift. Our goal is to collect 20 units of blood. Donors can donate blood every 56 days (8 weeks). Anyone who is 16 years old, weighing 120 pounds, (with parental consent form) or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds and in good general health may donate blood. Donors must present photo ID, last four digits of their social security number and their birth date. Visit southtexasblood.org for more information.

We will also be observing White Cane Day, a day set aside when Lions Clubs raise money for various eye conservation and sight restoration projects. Individuals making donations receive a symbolic white cane to wear on their lapel. Through events such as White Cane Day, Lions Clubs provide funding and manpower to promote the eye and corneal tissue donor education campaign for the Lions Eye Bank of Texas at Baylor College of Medicine. For more information about the Lions Eye Bank of Texas or to obtain a donor card, call (713) 798-5545 or visit with your local Lions.

The Seadrift Lions meet every second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at First National Bank in Seadrift. Visitors are always welcome.
