On April 1, 2011, the Warriors Weekend held their Muster in Victoria. A table for 8 was purchased by the Port O’Connor Chamber of Commerce. Attending were Agnes Valigura, Barbara Crouch, Leah Griffin, and La June Pitonyak. This event was enjoyed by all. The sailor whose picture was on the cover of Life Magazine, kissing the nurse in downtown New York when the war ended was present. Two other gentlemen from this era were also in attendance. It was fantastic to see these guys in full uniform. The dinner was quite a spread and enjoyed by all.

Remember everyone, WARRIORS WEEKEND is coming to Port O’Connor–May 20-21—Mark your calendar! Come out to let the troops know how much we support and appreciate what they have and are doing to keep us safe.

At the April meeting of the Port O’Connor Chamber of Commerce, Donnie Haynes, the Fireworks Chairman, reported he has everything lined up for the “Annual Fireworks Display.” If you see one of the Donation Cans in a local business, please ‘HELP’ us by contributing and keeping this a tradition for everyone in the coming years. July 2 will be the date this year. We are looking for a Great Display of all colors and shapes.

On Memorial Day weekend, May 28th, there will be the Annual Kids Fishing Tournament at King Fisher Beach, followed after that afternoon by a Kite Flying Contest. There is no charge for any Chamber sponsored event.

I hope you all will be enjoying a special time with your family and friends on Easter Sunday. Sharing a great meal, and watching the little ones hunt “Easter eggs” is always a memorable occasion. Sunday morning church service is the best part of Easter for me, especially when I can get going in time to make it to the sunrise service. This is indeed a special gathering for our community, and this year services will be held both at Port O’Connor beach and the Seadrift bayfront. If you can get there by 7:00 a.m., you will be glad you did.

Two special upcoming issues of Dolphin Talk are in need of your contributions: Memorial Day and Graduation. If you would like to memorialize a deceased military veteran, please get your photo and information to us by May 23.
