Meet Texas Wesley! by Tanya DeForest

Meet Texas Wesley! Otherwise known as United Methodist Campus Ministry at UT in Austin! Full of optimism and hope, they were here to be a blessing! This group of students and their leaders arrived in Seadrift January 2. Their departure date was January 11. Sent out by UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) their goal is to bring hope to the community. Their area of service not only included Seadrift, but Port Lavaca and Victoria as well. While in Seadrift, they did mold remediation, sheet rock replacing, tape and floating, insulation, and built two wheel chair ramps.
Area churches served up delicious meals and provided lodging while students and leaders alike savored the coastal environment!

Goodbye Party

Friends joined together on January 6, 2019 for a”Goodbye Party” honoring one of POC’s favorite citizens- Jane Madden. Jane, who is originally from Georgia, is moving back there to be near family. Jane has been active in the Community as a member of “The Friends of the POC Library, “Hooked On Books” Book Club, & has been a true asset to POC!! Members of both organizations & other friends treated Jane to a beautiful cake, delicious refreshments, and a wagon full of gifts, cards, poems, tributes , and well wishes to help send her on her way. We love and will miss you, Jane, but wish you well in your new life and new home!! Until we meet again…..
