Two years ago, in August, 2023, the project to raise money  for the repair and refurbishment of the Port O’Connor Community Center began. After numerous benefits, fundraisers, grants, donations and untold volunteer hours, the buildings are completed and the bills are paid!

The main building now boasts new paint throughout, new flooring, new kitchen counter tops, sinks, appliances, chairs and tables and new front doors. The pavilion has new bathrooms with more stalls in each one, expanded storage, new prep space for catering, paint, a roll down door to block those pesky north winds, expanded sidewalks, a patio space and new chairs and tables. These are just a few of the many improvements made to the complex.

The Community Center has served Port O’Connor for 25+ years now. It provides space for so many different functions and brings in countless dollars to businesses in our small town.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to everyone who contributed time and/or money to help accomplish this important undertaking. You have helped insure that the Port O’Connor Community Center will continue to be a gathering place in our town for years to come.

For information on rental rates and reservations, please contact April May at the County Commissioners office in Seadrift @ 361-655-8540

Come enjoy the End of the Summer Labor Day Beach Bash and Fireworks on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the King Fisher Beach Pavilion and Pier (rescheduled from July 6th). We will have craft and food vendors from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then end the day with spectacular fireworks.

Our Second Annual Port O’ Connor Boat and Fishing Expo, s scheduled for October 4-6, 2024, at the Port O’ Connor Community Center. There will be a variety of vendors providing marine and fishing products, guide services and several boat manufacturers. We are currently working on the schedule for our Culinary Corner and look forward to learning, from some amazing chefs, how to make some tasty seafood dishes.

The second Saturday of each month you need to visit the Port O’ Connor Farmers Market at the Kingfisher Beach Pavilion from 8:00-12:00. You can usually find fresh vegetables, jams and jellies, homemade breads, and fresh eggs. Our local artists are there as well with beautiful coastal pieces.

Thank you to POC Electric for repairing the green lights at the pier and to Texas Made Shade & Covers of Seguin for repairing the ripped awning on the playground.

We appreciate our new and renewing members DMW & Associates, PC who provide personalized financial guidance to individuals and businesses and Beachfront Bright which is a female owned business specializing in corrosion and pressure washing services.

For more information on these businesses and our other chamber members please visit our website at www.portoconnorchamber.com.
