SEADRIFT – Ronald Dale ‘Butch’ Mullins, 78, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Ronald was born on December 9, 1939 in Seadrift, TX to the late Alvin Henry Mullins and Susie Woolridge Mullins.

Ronald served in the United States Army and later was an Elementary/Jr. High school teacher.

He is survived by his sons; Rodney (Linda Dorley) Mullins and Roger (Vickie) Mullins; sister, Rosellen Moore; grandchildren, Savannah Mullins and Michael (Sheila) Mullins; great -grandson, Matthew Michael Mullins.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Terry L. Mullins, sister; Linda Beard, brother; Alvin Henry ‘Sonny’ Mullins, Jr
.

Graveside services were held Friday, January 5, 2018 at Seadrift Cemetery with Pastor Marcos Gohlke officiating.

Pallbearers were Michael Mullins, Lynn Gohlke, Carlos Thurkill, Sonny Oelschlegel, Aaron Wood and Jason Amason.

Condolences – Charles Homer DeLoach

Charles Homer DeLoach of Port O’Connor was born June 8, 1934 to Lucille Stallings DeLoach and Homer DeLoach in Dade, Florida. He passed away January 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his first wife Frankie Ann DeLoach and his second wife Carol DeLoach and grandson Joshua Franklin DeLoach.

Homer is survived by his children, Vicky French and husband Jimmy; Charles Louis DeLoach and wife Nancy; Susan Day and husband Reuben; Patty DeLoach; Kelli Garret; Frank DeLoach and wife Jamie; sister May; and his step-children who he loved as his own; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was employed as a radio tower installer, welder, and carpenter, and was a Jack-of-all-trades. He was a Port O’Connor Volunteer Fireman and also worked with the Air Force Fire Department.

Homer was an avid square dancer and he loved a good party. He always had a smile and a smirk for everyone. Homer was loved by many and will always be remembered for his humor.

The family will have a private memorial.

Condolences – Danny Douglas Helms

Danny Douglas Helms of Seadrift, Texas passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the age of 45. He was born on August 8, 1972 to Larry and Shirley Helms. Danny is survived by his brother Dennis Helms sister Denise Helms and his beloved nephew Will Cody Helms, all of Seadrift.

Danny was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seadrift. He loved sports, listening to country music and playing poker with the old timers. Thanksgiving and Christmas were Danny’s favorite times of the year. You could always find him helping his mom bake cakes and pies that would be delivered to other loved ones in town.

Danny was a commercial fisherman from a very young age where he worked alongside his dad and his brother on the 3D’s. Danny was very loved by his family and friends and he will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles and his beloved dog and best friend Buckwheat.

A memorial service for Danny will be held Saturday January 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Seadrift, Texas.

The First United Methodist Church of Seadrift would like to share with the community its upcoming Lent/Easter worship and study schedule. The season begins with a Community Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. Ash Wednesday services follow on Wednesday, February 14, at 6:00 p.m. The observance of the season will continue with a devotional study based on the book “24 Hours That Changed the World” by Adam Hamilton. Books are available. The study schedule follows:
