Some of those who helped decorate the Port O’Connor Library: (L to R) Susan Rabon, Joyce Jordan, Susan Onishi, Grace Stone, Wes & Lyn Sutherland

Tuesday, December 1, 2015 marked the first day to start our decorating skills in our library, and Ginnie Lichac and Joyce Jordan were here to aid a totally unmechanical person in putting up our tree. And with their help the tree became completely assembled with no empty areas.

Then on Wednesday afternoon, December 2, Shirley and I were joined in decorating the tree and the windows and every other area of our room by the assistance of Wes and Lyn Sutherland, Mrs. Grace Stone and her daughter Susan Onishi, and Joyce Jordan. And our Library is now fit and beautiful for the Christmas Season.

Taking its place on the main table is a decanter full of fresh coffee, sugar and creamer, and often cookies to be enjoyed by our visitors. As our facility for playing Christmas Songs is no longer working, our library is silent, but not when certain doors are opened and closed due to the jingle-bell wreath prominently displayed.

For several years now we have been decorating the library with some of our personal offerings and some we have been lent or purchased. And each year it looks better and better with the greenery above the shelves with many Santa figures and the small stockings along the side. But the tree is a wonderful sight with a rope of gold tinsel accompanied by multicolored balls. One of our decorators commented that the decorating of our Library has become a tradition; one she looks forward to each year.

And we have Marie Hawes, President of the POC Service Club to thank for lending us the greenery to be used this year. When Wes wound much of it outside by the front door, we all knew that Christmas was in sight.

And a very Merry Christmas to all our visitors with the wish of the best 2016 New Year to you all.

War!

We are at war, but there seems to be some confusion in ‘District of Corruption’ over with whom. Radical Muslims, starting with the Palestinians, have been at war with the USA and western Europe since the 1970’s. Terrorism is their preferred weapon of attack. Our Federal govt has refused to recognize that a general state of war has existed between the West and fundamentalist Islam for that time. This ‘head-in-the-sand’ attitude has reached a point of psychotic denial by the Obamunist Administration. Perhaps the only political promise B. Hussein Obama has made that was true was, “I will stand with the Muslims if the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” Originally stated in ‘his’ book “The Audacity of Hope”, he has repeated his pledge in other words over and over, especially to the Muslim world. His reaction to every Muslim terrorist attack or atrocity is to first defend Muslims and Islam, then excuse their barbarism by comparing the Christian Crusades, blaming “racism”, or even Global Warming. He is hugely committed to defending homosexuals from any slight, real or imagined, except in Muslim lands where they are often executed by the most barbaric means.

Obama and his Dem/Socialist’s reaction to the latest ISIS inspired Islamist attack in Califailure is to try and disarm loyal, law-abiding Americans. Attorney General Loretta Lynch is mouthing off about their intent to prosecute Americans that speak out against Muslim terrorism. Who’s side are they on? Like their knee-jerk defense of violent thugs, gang-bangers, and rioters in our cities against any police that actually try to stop crime, this totally misplaced support only encourages crime and terrorism. It even appears that they only side with those threatening to kill us, destroy Western Civilization and Democracy, and over-run our welfare system. They must know that by excusing crime and terrorism, they only encourage more of it.
Govt is supposed to protect its citizens from criminal attack and especially from foreigners that have a stated intent to make war on us. And to secure our borders. In the Lib/Dem/Socialist tactic of flooding the country with illegal aliens to change the political demographic, they are also allowing in hundreds, even thousands, of military age Muslim males from countries with a large Jihadist movements.

Whenever there is a terrorist attack, this administration and the Mass Media immediately try to blame the GOP, NRA, pro-life or any other Christians, Constitutionalists, Conservatives. These are who the Obamunists perceive as ‘their enemies’, because we want an honest, frugal, pro-American Constitutional Govt. Untold billions of dollars are spent by NSA to monitor billions of phone calls, Emails, and other communications by loyal patriotic Americans who are treated like enemies, like the TEA Party, Veterans, or who belong to any pro-American organizations, but they have no time or interest in people like Syed Farooq and Tashkeen Malik. They are forbidden by Obama to check up on Mosques and Islamic organizations that move millions of dollars around the world. It is a recognized fact that many of the 2,200 mosques here are controlled by Imams trained in the Wahhabi tradition, support the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and other even worse Jihadists like Al Qaeda, ISIS, and their spin-offs all over the Middle East and Africa. The so-called “Moderate Muslims” financially support these mosques and Islamist orgs that support and encourage Jihad and Sharia Law, even if they do not openly do so personally. “Devout” Muslims overwhelmingly support Sharia and deny Constitutional and “secular’ law.

Radical Muslims radicalize the “Moderate Muslims” by controlling the mosques. Look at Europe! Obama says “mass shootings” only occur in the USA, but just this year there have been 508 victims in France compared with only 484 during the almost 7 years of Obama’s presidency. and France’s population is about 67 million, about 1/5 of ours! Is he stupid, or a psychopathic liar? France has draconian ‘gun-control’ but Muslims have no problem getting full auto AK-47s. How many thousands will be killed here after our Muslim population equals the percentage of France?

Look at mass public shootings from 2009 to the middle of June this year: Norway had the highest annual death rate, with 2 mass public shooting fatalities per million people. Macedonia had a rate of 0.38, Serbia 0.28, Slovakia 0.20, Finland 0.14, Belgium 0.14, and the Czech Republic 0.13. The US comes in No. 8 with 0.095 mass public shooting fatalities per million people. Austria and Switzerland are close behind. Why does Obama attack guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens rather psychopaths and Jihadists? Why don’t they do something about black-on-black shooting in places like Chicago? Many Police Chiefs are encouraging those with Canceled Carry Permits to carry weapons consistently, and for homeowners to arm themselves. Murders and violent crimes are significantly down in states with high rates of Concealed Carry. Police are starting to recognize that. Police can deal with mass shootings, but they must get there with sufficient force first, and that is often too late for many victims.

If they want gun-control laws, why not limit gun sales to citizens only? And if you can deny gun rights to someone only accused of “domestic violence”, why can’t they deny guns to Muslims known to attend mosques or support Islamist groups that advocate or excuse Jihad? That is NOT RACIST! Islam is not a race, it is a Theocracy, a “religion”, a system of “law” and “govt” intended to spread their “religion” by conversion, conquest, or subversion, and those that follow it do so as a choice, at least in this country.

Logic tells us that the First Step to solving a problem is to admit you have a problem (Islamic terrorism). The Second Step is to correctly identify the problem (Radical Islamic Jihad). The Third Step is to analyze the problem to identify the “Root Cause” of the problem (radical, violent, fundamentalist Islam and the Imams and groups that teach it), and the Fourth Step is to develop strategies to solve, eliminate, and/or contain the problem. This Obama Administration refuses to take even the First Step, and is pushing a “false narrative” of blaming guns in the hands of citizens as the Second. They actively encourage the REAL Problem, for reasons of their own. This is a great part of why about half of Americans see the Federal Govt as the “enemy” and the biggest threat to peace and prosperity. There is a “Federalist Agenda”, and it does not bode well for the average American.

Dear Coastal Bend Friends,

The celebration and dedication to the Lucia Ornelas Foundation located at 312 N Commerce, Port Lavaca on Saturday November 21, 2105 is something I will never forget.

The whole Ornelas family was there remembering their mother and grandmother of the values that were installed in each of them and were being used as they helped many needy families with Thanksgiving dinners.

The Spanish Choir that she started at Our Lady of the Gulf Church that Ramon Moreno is now doing at the Church and the many prayer groups that Lucia was involved and prayed for many people that were having challenges in their life.

There were many open hearts and hands praying with children that were less fortunate Lucia showed her children how to share their Saturday morning.
It was truly a Saturday to remember.

Dr. Gloria Ornelas Gonzales touching on people that their Mother had helped in the Community Father Sam blessed the building Her memory lives on in the lives of their Family and friends for the next generation to carry on and do the things that she showed as an example of how she lived her life.

What a special way to start the Holiday Season You can not Out Give God.

Russell Cain, Port Lavaca

Nell Weber

Nell Weber

Give a fish and feed for a day, teach to fish and feed for a lifetime. For her entire life of 81 years, Eva Nell Weber shared joy and passion for fishing with her whole family and a school of friends. All benefited under her tutelage and she was delighted to share our enjoyment fighting a red or reeling in a trout. Nell was stealthy. There was many a time she hooked a fish to hand it over to the “newbie” who suddenly had a “bite”! Nell left us on Tuesday, November 24, 2015. A homemaker of 62 years for her husband Frank and mother to three boys, Nell never met a stranger. She opened her home and heart to welcome visitors to their retirement home in Port O’Conner, Texas. When not fishing, Nell was a fierce 42 player and avid gardener. No one could leave her home without a basket of homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers, and fig preserves not to mention full bellies.

Nell was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Rigamonti, mother Margaret, brother Lawrence, Junior, sister Anna Marie, nephews Larry Garvel and Charles Rigamonti and grandniece Brooke Rigamonti. She is survived by her husband Frank Weber; son Dave Weber and his wife Jennifer, granddaughters Julia and Maggie Weber; son Greg Weber; and son Mark and his wife Deanna Weber. She is also survived by the extended Weber and Rigamonti families.

The family would like to thank the staff of Home Instead Senior Care and Crestview Court for their TLC and compassion. Hospice Brazos Valley could not have been more kind and attentive in her last months.

In deference to Nell’s last wishes, formal services are not planned. A celebration of Nell’s life and memory will take place in the spring.

Nell asked that any donations be made to the Service Club/Senior Citizens Program, C/O Pat Ekstrom, P.O. Box 323, Port O’Connor, Texas 77982.
