Blair Marie Wagner and Austin Taylor Bugg were united in marriage on June 20, 2015.

The wedding took place in Galveston, Texas at St. Joseph Church followed by a reception at the Garten Verein.

Blair graduated from Texas A&M University and is the daughter of Chuck and Laura Palmie Wagner.

Austin is pursuing his degree in Supply Chain Management and is employed by TowWorks USA; he is the son of the late Keith and Johanna Bugg.

After honeymooning in Aruba, they now reside in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Locals Named to Dean’s List

Victoria College has recognized the outstanding academic performance of 162 students by naming them to the Spring 2015 Dean’s List.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average over a minimum of 12 academic credit hours within the semester and must not have any unsatisfactory grades in any classes.

Patricia Ann Rodgers, 63 of Seadrift, TX unexpectedly passed away June 28, 2015.  She was born October 31, 1951 in Grand Island, Nebraska to George O. Ellis and the late Ortha L. Henry Ellis. Patricia grew up in Oklahoma City and moved to Houston, Texas in high school, where she graduated from Spring Woods High School. Patricia graduated from University of Texas School of Nursing.  She was a Registered Nurse and 20 years ago built her own company, Pat Rodgers Rehabilitation Nurse Consultant.

Patricia was a kind free spirit, yet an integral and important part of the Ellis family that made it complete. Her caring nature is what led her into nursing and helping others. She was very attentive and caring for her sister Linda during her four year battle with breast cancer.  She was active in her church, Fisherman’s Chapel and Wounded Warrior Weekend in the local area.  She loved God’s creatures and took pets into her home when they need a place to be loved. Patricia will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving son, James E Gaile II, her father, George O. Ellis; sisters, Linda Clark and husband Gary Smith and Paulette Hamm and husband Pat; nephews, Lee Clark and Darren Clark and wife Denise.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Peter Barthelme and her mother Ortha Lee Ellis.

A memorial service was held Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Fisherman’s Chapel in Port O’Connor.

PORT O’CONNOR – Patricia Annie Gasch, 85, of Port O’Connor passed away Monday, July 6, 2015. She was born March 17, 1930 in San Antonio to the late Oscar F. Warrach and Agnes Leita Zandonatti. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Port O’Connor.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Sparks (W. J.), Elizabeth Dykes (Jerry), Lynette Cunningham (Gary) and Shelly Gasch (Marilyn Giessel); son, Allan Roy Gasch (Cindy); sisters, Deloris Brunson and Pauldine Nelley; brothers, Sylvan Zandonatti and Joe Zandonatti; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Gasch; her brothers, Robert Zandonatti and Ronald Zandonatti.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. Dan Morales officiating. Burial followed in Resurrection Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Allan Gasch Jr., Christopher Gasch, Scott Gasch, Jay Sparks, Tyler Dykes and Tim Hyak. Honorary pallbearer was Nick Free.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust, Victoria, Texas, 77901, St. Joseph Catholic Church of Port O’Connor, or St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 402 S. Main, Victoria, Texas, 77901.

SEADRIFT – George Louis Spencer Sr. passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. He was born in San Antonio on January 16, 1935 to the late Fred and Emma (Sandau) Spencer. George was a Shrimper.

He is survived by is his wife Gloria Jean Henderson Spencer; daughter, Melody (James) Morgan of Seadrift; daughter in law, Elizabeth Spencer of Lake Jackson; step daughter, Debra (Mike) Finster of Granbury; sons, David (Sandy) Lawtum of Floresville, Randolph Allen (Marion) Spencer of Deer Park and Garland James (Linda) Spencer of Seadrift; stepson, R.D. (Nancy) Henson of Seadrift; sisters, Alice Haecker of Arkansas, Erna Gutz of Aransas Pass; brother, Grant C. Spencer of New Braunfels; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Christine Ball Spencer; son, George Louis Spencer Jr.; one sister and three brothers.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Seadrift Cemetery with Bobby Garner officiating.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and granddaughters.

Honorary Pallbearers: all Commercial Shrimpers along the Gulf Coast.
