As a follow up with the inmates of the jail in Erlangen, Germany, Dieter Erhard has given them workshop with the result of a gigantic “sandwatch”.

It is a functional 12 foot artpiece, where the time is running! It takes about five minutes for the sand to run through. Visible from their windows while they can not walk in the yard, the fluorescent plexiglas and stainless steel, sandwatch may seem to shorten the inmates time.

The workshop Dieter gave was a kind of thank you for their participation in the Great Whale project.

The whale itself is now planned to be in Berlin, Potsdamer Platz for the project “Berlin Light 2016”.

ArtCenter Seadrift will host Mary Schmidt and Leonora Prugger, two young artists studying sculpture at the Nürnberg art academy, from October 2nd until October15th. Visitors wanted!
