Robert “Bob” Lee Irvin, Jr., age 75, of Port O’Connor, passed away on December 2, 2011.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Gertrude Irvin; daughter-in-law, Mary Irvin; sister, Joan Franza; brother-in-law, Antone Hoffart; and is survived by his wife Patsy Irvin; sons, Richard Lee Irvin and Hiram Duffy; daughter, Vicky Sue Skaines and husband Jerry; brother, Fred Byam Irvin; sisters, Betty Helton and husband Raymond, Brenda Hoffart, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and many friends gathered at the Port O’Connor Community Center on December 10 for Bob’s memorial service, officiated by Reverend Marcos Gohlke.

Demonstrating the high regard in which Bob was held by the Community, Doyle Adams presented Bob’s wife with a plaque which read:

Bob Irvin “Mr. Perfect”

One of the most admired men in Port O’Connor. Many of us in Port O’Connor greeted Bob and asked him, “How are you?” His response would always be, “Perfect”!

Bob was always involved in helping someone do a project. If he wasn’t asked, he would ask you, “Could I help?”

Some of his very helpful activities in Port O’Connor were:

He helped with “workday” at the Cemetery, cleaning up, mowing and edging.

Assisted greatly with labor in building a home for our Port O’Connor Librarian Shirley Gordon.

Assisted every Community Center “garage sale”, hauling furniture with his trailer, helping set the items for sale and working on “sale day”.

Assisted every Tuesday with the “Senior Citizens Lunch”. He was first to arrive and help set up tables and chairs and last to leave after storing the tables and chairs.

Bob met the boats with toys on the annual “Toy Run” at Christmas and helped unload the boats.

Bob was the “chief chef” in cooking all the steaks for the annual “Sweetheart Banquet” each year.

Bob attended the First Baptist Church in Port O’Connor regularly with his wife Pat.

Yes, we will miss Bob and all the things he did for the people in Port O’Connor. But his friends in Heaven greeted him with a big smile and hug and asked him, “How are you?” All of us know what his answer was…
