For those of you who missed the Port O’Connor Lion’s Club Christmas Party at Kenneth and Grady Jean Clark’s residence at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8th, you really missed a fantastic party. The Clark’s residence was decorated beautifully. Members brought covered dishes including desserts and there was plenty of food to go around. I’ve put in a request for Grady Jean’s recipe for the fabulous almond tea she makes.

We were happy to have as guests and new members of the Lion’s Club Andy and June Westling, Jim and Diane Cooley, and Yolanta DiClemente.

After the delicious food, we settled down around the cozy fireplace and gorgeous Christmas tree to play the enjoyable Chinese gift game. There were a few items which were “stolen” back and forth, but the anticipated “dreaded” gift from last year did not show up, to our surprise since it had been threatened by the current owner, Jim Butler, during our last meeting. Just wait – he will spring it on us next year!!

The real winner turned out to be “Hobo” who received her own Christmas blanket from Grady Jean and was awarded a whole basket of doggie toys and goodies from Pat Turk. Meanwhile, “Sparky” – whose owner is Kathy Yearwood, had a good time with all the attention given to both “Sparky” and “Hobo”.
