So hard to believe we are already 3/4 thru 2018. Seems just a few weeks ago we were so excited that summer was ahead of us; it’s now come and gone. But the Chamber has several events planned before the end of the year. Several years ago, Mary Francis Bauer, moving here from Austin, volunteered to put together a “Trunk or Treat”” to continue fun and safety for the Port O’Connor children following the local school “Halloween Carnival”. This has turned into a fantastic event. Come and join in the free fun, start your planning of how to decorate your vehicle, you may or may not dress up also, put on your scariest costume, so when handing out your treats, the children will remember this event in the years to come. On October 27th get lined up at King Fisher Park for beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Next will be the Annual Lighted Christmas Parade of Boats on ICW, December 1st. It’s not too early to begin deciding how you want to decorate your vessel; there are several categories. This is a great event where the whole family can be involved. Also with 2018 coming to a close, the Annual Chamber Christmas Party will be on December 8th. At this event the 2019 directors will be nominated. It’s not to early to get your name on the ballot. If interested in getting a little more involved in the community, just email, Mary Jo Walker at shrimper@tisd.net. With out the members there would be no Chamber in POC.

Please keep up with us on portoconnorchamber.com, Facebook and our Instagram account. Next meeting will be October 8th, 6:30 p.m., Port O’Connor Community Center.
