Thank You!

I would like to thank each of you for the honor bestowed upon me as Citizen of the Year 2022.

There are others more deserving but I thank you.

I have been around for a long time here and have always tried to contribute to making POC the best it could be. We were the best kept secret for a long time.
That was when Service Club met at the Library (small room where fire department is now) with our enriched flour, Crisco and a pinch of salt; where we made pie crust. Bought apples and peaches by the crate. Peeled by hand. Cut up in our biggest pot added sugar, cinnamon and cooked. Cut pie crust in circles and filled with apple or peach. Fried in big fryer. Could never have enough to sell for our annual Fried Pie Fund Raiser.

What a difference a year makes. No more the best kept secret. We have to be happy and share!! Everyone needs to be able to share the blessings and love we have here. We have a very special knit community. I am thankful to have been a part of it before Stoffer and Pepperidge Farm, even Martha Stewart.

Enjoy every day here. Keep working. You have made POC a better place to live. Love you all.

God is good.

Mary Nell McGee
