One morning recently, a Great Horned Owl was spotted right outside the Port O’Connor school fence. Brigid Berger, who has been trained by Wings Rescue in Rockport, came to the rescue and and after observing the bird to see it was not injured, placed it in a tree so its parents would be able to find it.
Young Great Horned Owls leave their nests before they can fly and hop around trees and bushes while their parents still feed them and teach them to hunt.
Brigid will continue to monitor it until she is sure the little owl is safe.
