Commissioner
Calhoun County’s Helipads Center

Precinct 4 County Commissioner Gary Reese (pictured above) commenting about the newly dedicated helipad in Seadrift had this to say: “It will help 1st Responders do their job more efficiently and safely. In a medical situation time is very critical and hopefully having this facility (helipad) will help save lives.”

August 24th, two patients were transported separately in two helicopters from Seadrift’s helipad. Time was of the essence. People’s lives were at stake. Each helicopter can only carry one patient…saving lives one at a time!
Currently there are three helipads used for medical transport in Calhoun County. Memorial Medical Center has one. Magnolia Beach has one. Now Seadrift has one. Plans are underway to start construction the first of the new year (2024) in Port O’Connor for a fourth helipad in Calhoun County.

Our hats off to those who made these helipads possible, our 1st Responders, and those who operate and man these medical helicopters… saving lives one at a time! -Tanya DeForest
