The journey to end cancer starts with a single step. The American Cancer Society invites you to take that step with them by joining the global Relay For Life movement. When you walk to end cancer at a Relay event, it’s your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost, but also to raise awareness about what we can do to stay well from cancer and raise money to help fuel the world’s largest walk to end cancer.

Relay For Life, Calhoun County, will be held April 5 and 6 at Calhoun County Fairgrounds. Your support and involvement are crucial to the effort to raise money and awareness for this cause. Currently, there are 29 local teams registered to participate.

Look online under “Relay for Life, Calhoun County, Texas” for details on the upcoming event. You may want to participate by purchasing a luminaria in honor of your loved ones who have succumbed to cancer or are currently fighting this disease. Whether participating or not, your presence at the April 5-6 event is appreciated.

Oliver

Oliver attracts a lot of attention as he’s a very different looking guy. We call him a terrier mix though he has almost a Schnauzer looking head and also those lanky legs and somewhat curly hair.  At about 7 months he’s most remarkable for his easy going temperament, good manners for a puppy and that he’s ALWAYS happy.

Simon

Simon is a German Shepherd/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix about 2 years old. He is house broken, crate trained and has learned some basic “doggie manners” so you’ll enjoy walking him. He loves attention and really likes to hear, “Good dog!” when he’s pleased you.
Come see Simon and Oliver and all the other animals at the Port Lavaca Animal Shelter, 201 Stringham Drive (across from the rodeo arena), Monday through Saturday, 10 to 2, or call the Calhoun County Humane Society, 553-8916.
You can also view them and other animals ready for adoption on line at www.calhouncountyhumanesociety.org Thanks and we’ll be waiting for you!
