Our Pastor, Bro. Donnie Martin, and his wife Shirley returned to Mississippi this past week to participate in the funeral of a very dear friend. In his absence, the Church welcomed Bro. Walter Jackson to the pulpit for both services last Sunday. Bro. Jackson and his wife Lisa received a real welcome. Bro. Jackson is the new Executive Director of Missions for the Guadalupe Baptist Association and he will be moving from Dekalb, Texas to Victoria very shortly. The Jacksons have three children.

Bro. Jackson delivered outstanding sermons and the congregation was blessed with special music by Dorothy Ruchman. Bro. Raymond Grant gave a fine children’s sermon and led the congregation in singing “There Is Power in the Blood”, “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name”, “I’ve Got Peace Like a River”, and “I Love to Tell the Story”. The worship services were well attended and very inspirational.

Special Prayer Meetings for the Church Revival in September continue in Fellowship Hall each Tuesday. The men meet at 7:30 a.m. every Tuesday morning and the ladies meet at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evenings. The Revival will be September 16-19. Bro. Shannon Talley, Pastor of First Baptist Church of McAllen, will be preaching. Services will be 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, and daily services at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, September 17, 18, and 19.

See you in church Sunday!

Thanks from the Port O’Connor Chamber of Commerce

Miley

Miley is a border collie mix, just over a year old. She is SUCH a sweet and gentle girl, a terrific family companion. Miley will need a large yard to romp around in and would love another canine friend to play with.

Soccer

Black and white is a very classy color combo, and Soccer has all the markings in all the right places. A terrier mix just a little over a year old, he’s full of fun and will make a great family companion.

Come see Soccer, Miley, and all the other animals at the Port Lavaca Animal Shelter, 201 Stringham Drive (across from the rodeo arena), Monday through Saturday, 10 to 2, or call the Calhoun County Humane Society, 553-8916.

You can also view them and other animals ready for adoption on line at www.calhouncountyhumanesociety.org

Thanks and we’ll be waiting for you!
