Seadrift Girl Scouts Get Festive for Easter

On Saturday, March 31, 2012 the Seadrift Girl Scout Troop #95105 paired up with Nan Burnett from the Seadrift Chamber of Commerce to give the Seadrift Nature Habitat at the bayfront some Easter spirit! The girls hung hundreds of colorful eggs donated by the Chamber from the various trees and plants.

The girls and Troop leaders Brianne Key and Rita Carter would like to send a huge Thank-You to the Chamber for the donation. Also special thanks go to Mrs. Burnett for her creativity and effort which made this project possible. Thank-You!

This alligator showed up in Walter Konzen’s front yard on Stella Street in Port O’Connor and stayed around for about a week. It was 4 or 5 feet long. Walter hasn’t seen the gator in a few days, but it may still be inside the culvert.

Darla

Arnie

Ringo

Darla is a lovely, gentle, small terrier mix about a year old. White with light tan markings and long legs, she is quite elegant and distinctive and
very sweet.

Black and tan dogs are always striking, add in some white and you have a truly lovely animal. Arnie is a terrier mix about a year and a half old, a small guy and super friendly. You’ll find yourself making those “awwww” sounds when he’s around.

Everyone says “Wow!” when they see Ringo, a stunning Beagle/Blue Tick Hound cross. At about 8 months, he’s still a puppy and has LOTS of energy. Ringo is a very enthusiastic and eager fella and is always first at the door to let you know he’s been waiting for you!

Come see Ringo, Arnie, Darla, and all the other animals at the Port Lavaca Animal Shelter, 201 Stringham Drive (across from the rodeo arena),

Monday through Saturday, 10 to 2, or call the Calhoun County Humane Society, 553-8916.

You can also view him and other animals ready for adoption on line at www.calhouncountyhumanesociety.org

Thanks and we’ll be waiting for you!

These 12-year-old fishermen, David, Alex, and Preston (from left to right) were blessed on Good Friday to catch several nice reds and big trout in South Pass while visiting Port O’Connor. David’s grandfather, Scott Becker (both from Cypess, TX) and Terry Wayne Easton (shown with the boys), who is from Regina, Canada, guided all three boys for two days while in town. They had a blast!
