Easter Sunday is April 8 – What Does My Creator Think of Me?

Psalms 139

He thinks I am so important, that He takes knowledge of my every action and thought.

“Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thoughts afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.” vs. 2,3

He is always present with me. I cannot escape Him.

“If I ascend up into heaven thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” v. 8

He created me in a wonderful fashion, for a purpose He planned for me in eternity past.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” vs. 14,16

His continual loving care for me cannot be measured.

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.” vs. 17,18.

HOW SHOULD I RESPOND TO MY CREATOR”S LOVE FOR ME?

Allow Him to show me my spiritual condition.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked way in me.” vs. 23,24a

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Accept the plan He has designed for my life, beginning now with my salvation.

“and lead me in the way everlasting.” v. 24b

Realize that Jesus Christ, my Creator, so loved me that He, as God, took upon Himself human flesh, and came to this earth to be punished for my sin by dying on the cross.

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Realize that because of His death, burial and resurrection for me, I can have the gift of spending eternity with my Creator.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

HOW DO I ACCEPT THE GIFT OF FORGIVENESS FOR MY SIN SO THAT I CAN GO TO HEAVEN?

Repent of my sin: accept what God thinks of my sin. “repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:15 Believe with all my heart that Christ died, was buried, and came back to life for my sins. “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 Pray this simple prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that You suffered the punishment for my sin by your death on the cross, and that You arose from the grave. I now receive You into my heart as my Savior. Thank You for saving me and forgiving me right now. I will serve You with all my heart. Amen.

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”  Acts 16:31

Easter Sunday is April 8 ¿Que Es Lo Que Piensa El Creador De Mi?

Salmo 139

El piensa que soy tan importante que El toma cuenta de cada una de mis acciones y cada pensamiento.

“Tú has conocido mi sentarme y mi levantarme; has entendido de lejos mis pensamientos.

Hechos 16:31

Candidate Forum Held March 9 by Joyce Rhyne

“The TEA Party Candidate Forum was a tremendous success,” said Connie Hunt, who organized the event which was held Friday evening, March 9 at The Heritage Center.  “We had a great audience of more than 200.”

There are 10 candidates for the US Senate Seat currently held by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is retiring. Three of the ten participated in the forum.  “Please remember that these three – Craig James, Ben Gambini, and Lela Pittinger –  took their time and money to travel long distances in the rain to visit with citizens of our small county,”  Connie said.

Three candidates for U.S. Congress attended the forum:

Blake Farenthold (incumbent)

Don Al Middlebrook

Trey Roberts

After introducing themselves, each candidate was asked three prepared questions. Additionally, a variety of questions were submitted by the audience. The three prepared questions were:

1. Do you support a balanced budget amendment, and how would you accomplish it?

2.  Do you support mandatory drug testing to qualify and receive welfare and Medicaid benefits?

3. Do you support federally-funded contraceptives and abortions?

All the candidates answered in the affirmative to questions 1 and 2. and negative to question 3.

Many answers brought applause from the audience. At the end of the meeting, the candidates mingled with the attendees to address their concerns one-on-one.

Alex Hernandez Jr., candidate for the Texas House of Representatives, was in attendance for the first part of the meeting, but left before having a chance to speak to the audience. Geannie Morrison, incumbent and candidate for the same position spoke briefly.

Todd Hunter, our current State Representative, presented to Russell and Cherre Cain, a Texas House Resolution honoring Russell’s father, Roland Cain.  Hunter then spoke about redistricting and the turmoil it has caused, saying he was disappointed that he would no longer be working for and with us, but will be continuing his efforts in State matters that affect us all.  As it stands now,  Calhoun County will no longer be in Hunter’s District 32, but has been reassigned to District 30, which is currently represented by Geannie Morrison.

The Dolphin suggests that you check out all the candidates before the May 29th Primaries. You should be able to find information on all of them on the internet. And if you have opportunity, attend gatherings such as this recent forum to see them in person. Please educate yourselves as much as possible before exercising your vitally important right to vote.

BUNCO – BUNCO!

The next Bunco party will be Tuesday evening, April 3rd beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the back meeting room of the Community Center, and we will be in for a fun evening with some delicious foods. We welcome all interested women on that evening; if you are new to our area, this is a good way to meet others. And if playing Bunco is something you’ve never had time for, well, you will certainly enjoy yourself, so come check us out. You could go home a winner too! Ask Biddie Hileman who garnered the prize for winning the most games in March! Call Shirley Gordon at the Library for further information, 983-4365.

The Service Club and its POC History Book Committee are still searching for a picture of the ranch house on the LaSalle Ranch preferably back in the 40’s. If anyone has a photo in their possession or know of someone who does, and will lend it to be copied, please contact either Chairman, Sue Kubecka, 798-0560 or our President, Janet Johnson, 983-4737. Additionally, we are currently concentrating on the decade of the 40’s and the changes that evolved in this community as brought by the Second World War. Please give either Sue Kubecka or Janet Johnson a call if you were here during that period and could share your experiences with us. We look forward to speaking with you.

Unfortunately, ladies, we are now approaching Spring, which means the time for cleaning closets, cupboards, and dresser drawers and eliminating that dress or other item that just isn’t right. So do remember, the Service Club is holding their Annual Spring Garage Sale on Saturday, April 14th at the Community Center. You may call either Lydia Strakos, Chairman of the Sale at 983-2341, or her assistant, Debbie Busby 512 914-9521 to arrange for storage of any usable items. And thank you.

If you’ve seen the sign denoting the POC Liquor Store on Adams Street, you’ve probably popped in there to reacquaint your friendship with Janet Johnson, the manager. Reacquaint because Alvins had closed last November, which is where Janet had been the manager. And we have all missed seeing her and her charming and friendly smile. Noral MacCauley is the owner and though the store might appear small, there is an amazing display of items. Watch for the Grand Opening Celebration later!

HAVE YOU NOTICED: the cleanup of weeds in the area bordering the old Tarpon Inn? Several people have been hard at work at this site on East Maple; the cleanup now shows several concrete pads and electrical outlets for some RV spots. Hmmmmmm!

Well, Spring Break is now over as I write this; we’ve had a lot of visitors here in our area; I only hope that they were not too disappointed in our overcast days. But on Friday it looked as though the sun would make its appearance, for which many of us were hopeful in order to start on our Spring tan!

It looks as though we’ve lost one restaurant here; El Mexicano #6 as operated by Daniel Huerta has closed. That’s really sad as the location is a perfect spot for a restaurant, overlooking the Intercoastal Canal.

Don’t know if the reader was one of the people enjoying the Anniversary Celebration of The Treasure Chest on Saturday. Hope you didn’t miss it.

School started back again on Monday, the 19th; remember to watch for kids on the streets either walking or on bikes.
