The dads and moms of Cub Scout Troup 116 wish to thank the many people of this Community for their support and attendance at our Enchilada Dinner on the 24th of February. Your bidding on the Cakes was very enthusiastic and the moneys earned will go to fund many of the planned functions for the Cubs in the coming year.

Everything seems to be getting back to normal at the Church after a very hectic month of Sweetheart Banquet chores. There is no time to rest because Summer is approaching rapidly and an abundance of activities are on tap.

The first Church “Birthday Bash” of this year will be held this Sunday evening, March 13, at 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. At the “Bash” the Church will be celebrating with everyone who has a birthday in January, February, and March. Brother Marcos will deliver a devotion followed by everyone singing “Happy Birthday” to the recipients. Everyone will be bringing their favorite dish, salad or dessert and all will enjoy a great meal and after that, a real time of fellowship.

Candice Stryker is planning for a big Easter Egg Hunt at the Church on Saturday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. All children are invited to participate. Just bring your Easter Baskets and have fun. There will be special areas for all different ages. Prizes will be presented and refreshments will be served.

The Annual Easter Sunrise Service will be held on the front beach at the pavilion at approximately 7:00 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 25. Don’t miss this very inspirational service! Brother Marcos Gohlke will be delivering the Easter message and you will enjoy congregational singing and the First Baptist Church Choir will be singing. Music will also be provided by Fisherman’s Chapel. Everyone is invited to attend this special service. You should bring your chairs, a coat, and be prepared to enjoy a very fine spiritual service.

Sam Craig will be bringing his “Eagle Wings Camp” boys to Port O’Connor on Friday evening, June 3. The boys will be staying in Fellowship Hall. On Saturday, June 4, the men of the Church will be taking the boys fishing. We will need five boats to take the boys out on the bays. If you could volunteer your time and boat, please contact me, Doyle Adams, at 983-4866. The boys will leave Clark’s at 7:00 a.m. and return at 12:00 noon. All the boys are 12 to 16 years old and most are not living with a father and have never fished.

Vacation Bible School this year will be Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9. The School will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon each day and the Church van will pick up children and take them home. For more information on VBS, call the Church at 983-2727.

See you in church Sunday!
