Another year has almost come to an end and here we are about to celebrate Christmas! Don’t let yourself get lost in the craziness of the season. Remember what we are really celebrating at this time of year, the birth of our Lord Jesus. He is the gift we need to be giving and we need to be praying for more peace on earth and goodwill toward our fellow man. Our world is sorely lacking in those things now, it seems.

December is packed with activities in POC! FBC is no exception. On the 15th, TEAM KIDS will have their Christmas party. The kids and their parents will leave from FBC on a hayride and travel to the home of John and Sara Kay Reneau. Once there, they will be treated to hot dogs, s’mores and lots of fun activities. You don’t want to miss it. Come and enjoy all the fun.

December 19th, is the FBC choir music program. It will be presented during the morning service. We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper at that time. At 6:00 p.m., FBC will have a “white elephant” gift exchange party. Come join us and bring a gift and a finger food dish to share.

2022 will be here before we know it. We can only guess what lies ahead in the new year. We have weathered over two years of COVID and chaos. God hears our prayers. He waits for us to voice them. Pray.

FBC is waiting to welcome you to any of our services or functions. All are welcome at any time. Come and join us.

Sunday: Sunday School for all ages at 10:00 a.m.; Church: 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday Bible study: 4:00 p.m. women. 6:00 p.m. men
Wednesday TEAM KIDS 5:00 p.m., Youth 6:00 p.m.. Prayer service 6:00 p.m.

POC’s Book Club, “Hooked On Books”, held its Annual December Book Club Meeting and Christmas Party on December 14, 2021 at the home of Hank and Michelle Lippold. The covered dish affair provided a smorgasbord of beverages, entrees, appetizers, sides, and desserts, and the ladies enjoyed the feast over cheerful visiting, laughing, and Yuletide merriment!! Following the meal, the group held a lively discussion of December’s Book, The Christmas Box, by Richard Paul Evans, and all agreed it was a very touching story with meaningful, lifelong lessons! The group wrapped up the event with a highly competitive, boisterous, and entertaining “Chinese Christmas Gift Exchange”, and, luckily, no one was injured in the good-natured stealing, swapping, and chiding!!! It was a fun and wonderful afternoon, and a great time was had by all!! A huge “Thank You” to the Hostess for her warm hospitality!!

The next Book Club Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, and January’s Book is Miss Ella of Commander’s Palace, by Ella Brennan. The book is the autobiographical story of Ms Brennan’s legendary family, who founded the Brennan Restaurant Empire in New Orleans and Houston. If you are interested in joining “Hooked On Books”, please send your contact information to alanehaardt@yahoo.com. All are welcome!!

The Book Club Ladies wish you all a very “Merry Christmas 2021”, and a “Happy New Year 2022”!!!

Lifes-Journey
Life’s Journey

(Remembering Minerva Reyes and Liliana Torres)

A silent spectre comes to us all.
People are missing. It was their call.
Life comes in all sizes: short, medium, or tall.
Just to be ready, death will not stall.
Christ called Himself the Door.
His death on the Cross proved there was more-
Life in the now and forevermore!
