SD-Santa-Claus
This year to the delight and amazement of many a child the Seadrift Santa continued his Christmas tradition. And what a tradition it is!

Santa takes the time to write down everything on each child’s wish list. Mrs.Santa takes their picture with Santa. You don’t leave without Santa giving out a candy cane
.
And not only all of the above, but Santa takes the time to see that each child receives a letter in the mail from yours truly with their picture included!

Talk about good ole’ North Pole hospitality!

←Included in the picture with Santa are twins Kiley and Karley Sexton. -Tanya DeForest

Santa-at-VD
On December 13, Santa paid a visit to the Port O’Connor Fire Station.

Clara and Jacob Stryker, plus many other, kids got to talk to him.

The POC Community Service Club honored three of Port O’ Connor’s finest for their hard work and unwavering dedication to the POC Community!! The Club presented L’Roy Bell, Chris Mapp, and Lawrence Wegeman with framed certificates declaring them “Community Champions” and each got a $50.00 Gift Certificate. Congratulations to these fine gentlemen!! We appreciate all that you do for POC and its residents!!

L'Roy
L’Roy Bell was chosen as a “Community Champion”, not only because he goes over and above keeping the Community looking great and running smoothly in his job with Calhoun County, but also because of his kindness and compassion toward those in need in our community, for which he shies away from recognition!! L’Roy generously gives of his own time to mow the lawns of people who are unable to do so, repair things that need fixing, and lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone in need. If you mention it to him, he humbly says: “I’m just doing my job”. Thank you, L’Roy, for everything!! L’Roy is pictured above receiving his award from Club Member, Diane Cooley.

Chris
Chris Mapp, who owns and operates the thriving POC business- Coastal Bend Marine- was chosen as a “Community Champion” because of his extensive community involvement, and his unwavering support of every local organization and community function in Port O’ Connor!! In addition to donating monetarily, Chris donates his time and energy, and also uses his beautiful marquee to advertise and promote events in POC!! Thank you so much, Chris!!

Lawrence
Lawrence Wegeman was chosen as a “Community Champion” because of his dedication and unwavering efforts to keep the roadway into Port O’ Connor clean and free of debris!! On any given day, Mr. Wegeman can be seen riding his bicycle up and down Highway 185, picking up and bagging trash and debris. We greatly appreciated your efforts, Lawrence, and all of us enjoy your beautification efforts!! Thank you!!! In addition, many residents have enjoyed watching the progress through the years of Lawrence building a boat in his yard!! A very interesting man!! The POC Community Service Club held its annual “Senior Citizens Christmas Luncheon” on December 4th, 2020, and, despite having to do it “Drive Through” style due to Covid, it was a huge success!! The ladies served delicious “To Go” lunches of chicken and dressing, corn casserole, green beans, rolls, fruit salad, and cookies to approximately 150 guests. The menu got rave reviews from those we heard from, and the Service Club Ladies had fun doing what they do best- serving the Citizens of Port O’Connor, and making our Community a better place!!

The Club would like to thank all who continue to support us in our community service projects and fund raising efforts. We will have our booth at the Farmers Market the second Saturday of each month, so please stop by and visit us. The Club’s next meetings will be on 1/7/2021 and 1/21/2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the POC Community Center. We welcome all who want to join us!!

We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year 2021!!
